Las Palmas offers a large variety of wagers on all major sports and horse racing. This guide is to help you understand the different wagers available and how to place wagers on all your favorite sporting events.
Example:
Spread
Football is most commonly wagered on using a Spread or point-spread. In our example the Giants are a 4 point favorite over the Redskins. If you wagered on the Giants, you are laying or giving up 4 points. The Giants must win by 5 or more points to win the wager. If the Giants win by the exact spread, in this case 4, the game is a push or tie and wagers on either side are refunded. A wager on the Redskins would pay off if they won the game or lost by 3 or less points..
Point Totals
The Point Total in our example is 401/2. You may wager on the combined score for both teams is over or under 40 ½ points. It doesn't matter who wins the game when wagering on a Point Total. In point-spread and totals wagering, both payoff at 10/11, indicated by the -110, unless otherwise stated. On winning wagers the bettor wins $10 for every $11 wagered. If you wager $220 on the Redskins and you win, you would collect $420, the $220 you wagered and the $200 in winnings.
Money Line
Money Lines are available on most NFL games. Just as in baseball, a Money Line is simply picking the winner of the game. In our example, -175 means $175 wagered on the Giants would return $275 if they win. The $175 that was wagered and the $100 in winnings. A $100 wager on the Redskins (+155) would return $255 if they won. The $100 that was wagered and the $155 in winnings.
Parlays
You may select from 2-10 teams in a parlay. All selections must be winning wagers to collect on a parlay. If one or more selections are ties, the parlay would be reduced down by the number of ties. For example, a 2-team parlay with the Giants -4 ½ and the over 40 for $100 and the Giants win 24-16. The Giants -4 ½ would be a winner and the over 40 would be a push or tie. If one team in a two team parlay ties, then it will reduce to a straight wager paying 10/11. Also see our Limits and Payoffs for all Parlay and Teaser payoff tables..
Teasers
You may select from 2-6 teams in a teaser. Las Palmas offers 6, 6 ½ and 7 point teasers. A teaser allows you to add 6, 6 ½ or 7 points to an underdog or subtract 6, 6 ½ or 7 points from the favorite. We also offer a special 3-team 10 point teaser. If a point spread has money line of -120 or greater, all teasers revert to the next half point higher. Ex: -7 -120 would be teased from -7½.
Buying Points
The bettor may adjust a point-spread wager in their favor by ½ point or a full point by laying an additional 10 cents per half point. To move "on" or "off" a 3 in the Pros costs an additional 25 cents and in College an additional 20 cents. To move "on" or "off" 7 costs 15 cents in both Pro and College.
Halftimes
New point-spreads are established at halftime for wagering on the second half of all NFL and nationally televised NCAA games. Halftime wagering includes overtime.
Example:
Spread
Basketball, like football, is most commonly wagered on using a point-spread. In the example, the Hornets are a 4 point favorite over the underdog Spurs. The Hornets would have to win by more than 4 points to cover the spread and win the wager. The Spurs could lose by less than 4 points and still win the wager. Basketball wagers win $100 for every $110 wagered for a return of $210.
Point Totals
Basketball Point Totals require the bettor to select whether the combined score of both teams will be over or under the Point Total, in this case 182 ½ points. The payoff for totals is 10/11 unless otherwise stated.
Money Line
Money Line wager is where you will be paid odds by choosing the winning team, without regard to the point spread. Let’s look at our example. If you think the Spurs are going to win the game outright. You could bet the Money Line and profit $15.50 for wager of $10, for a total return of $25.50. On Money Line wagers the favorite pays less than the Point Spread wager would pay, and the underdog would pay more.
Teasers
Las Palmas offers 4, 4 ½ and 5 point basketball teasers. See Limits and Payoffs for complete payoff tables. We also offer selected Money-lines, Halftimes, Parlays, Futures and Season wins. Refer to the football section for a more detailed explanation of these wagers.
Example:
Money Line
The most common wager in baseball is the Money Line. The Money Line is simply selecting the winner of the contest. In the example listed above, the Phillies are the slight favorite and are playing against the underdog Reds. If you wager on the Phillies, you would have to risk $110 to win $100. If the Phillies win, a $110 wager on them would win $100, for a return of $210. If the Reds, at even money should win, a $100 wager on them would win $100 for a return of $200. The amounts in the example are to illustrate the rate of return, you determine how much you want to wager. Money Lines can be used in any sport, but are most popular in baseball.
